Have you ever heard of Shane Stedman? He is the one who had the brilliant idea of creating the iconic sheepskin boots, initially designed as footwear for surfers. Thanks to them, surfers could face the cold waters and then warm up with boots with soft fur lining.
Way back in 1971, Stedman decided to register the UGH-BOOTS trademark, and in 1982 he shortened the name to UGG. It was then Brian Smith, in 1978, who founded the UGG Australia company in the United States. From that moment, UGG shoes began to conquer California surfers and even Hollywood celebrities.
In 1995, Deckers acquired UGG Holdings for a hefty sum of fifteen million dollars, and the following year Stedman sold the rights to the UGG brand to the same company.
