Timberland: dalle Foreste del New England alle Strade del Mondo

Timberland: From the Forests of New England to the Roads of the World

It was 1973 when in the quiet town of Newmarket, New Hampshire, Sidney Swartz, together with his father Nathan and his brother, created a boot that would revolutionize the world of footwear: the legendary Yellow Boot.

Designed to withstand the harsh conditions of New England, this rugged, waterproof boot quickly became an icon of style and function.

Timberland's history dates back to 1952 when Nathan Swartz purchased half of the Abington Shoe Company. In 1955 he acquired the remaining part of the company, involving his sons in the family project. Innovation came in 1965 with the introduction of injection molding technology that allowed the sole to be joined to the upper without seams, guaranteeing waterproofness and durability.

1973 marked the birth of the Timberland brand with the introduction of the famous yellow boot. This model met the needs of outdoor workers and also conquered the streets of cities, becoming a symbol of fashion and urban culture.

In the 1980s, Timberland crossed the Atlantic, finding a warm welcome in Italy. The "paninari", young Milanese fashion lovers, adopted the yellow boot as a distinctive element of their style, helping to spread the brand across the European scene.

A curious anecdote concerns the use of Indian ink to emphasize the tree logo on the shoes. In the 90s, some hip-hop artists used this trick to make the brand stand out, making Timberlands a must-have in the music scene and beyond.

Today, more than fifty years after its creation, the Yellow Boot continues to be a symbol of authenticity and resistance. Celebrities such as Bradley Cooper have sported exclusive versions, the result of collaborations with luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, demonstrating the timeless appeal of this boot.

Timberland's history is a journey through innovation, culture and style. From the forests of New England to the international catwalks, the brand has reinvented itself while keeping its essence intact.
