Berwick 1707: Tradition and Innovation for Quality Shoes

The name Berwick originates from a crucial historical event for Spain, in fact on 25 April 1707 in the lands of Valencia the Bourbon troops led by the Duke of Berwick won a decisive battle during the War of the Spanish Succession. This success opened the doors of the kingdom of Valencia to the Bourbons allowing Philip V to be proclaimed king of Spain. It is in honour of this important historical figure that the Berwick 1707 brand bears his name.

It is a company born in the last third of the twentieth century, which has always decided to focus on the artisan quality and durability of its products by introducing an excellent manufacturing process, the Goodyear Welt system.

This technique is famous for its strength and longevity and is the basis of Berwick 1707 shoes designed to satisfy the most demanding customers. Each shoe is the result of a perfect balance between technology and artisan tradition, a process that requires years of experience and manual skills.

All materials used in the production of the shoes are of European origin and comply with the highest standards of quality and sustainability. The manufacturing takes place entirely in the brand's own facilities, an aspect that allows for total control over every phase of the process and guarantees maximum attention to detail.

Goodyear Welt System - Berwick Women

The Goodyear Welt system on which Berwick production is based was invented on January 24, 1871 by Charles Goodyear Jr., who patented a machine for sewing leather, making more efficient a job that until then had been done manually.

Over the years, other innovations, such as the automatic sewing machine patented by Jan Ernst Matzeliger in 1883, transformed the shoe industry. These amazing inventions led to increasingly efficient and accessible shoemaking, cutting costs and making quality products available to more people.

Today, Berwick 1707 shoes are manufactured in Almansa, following the process patented by Goodyear more than 150 years ago --> Every stage of production is managed internally, including often outsourced processes such as the construction of the heel or the manufacturing of the sole.

Berwick 1707 represents the union between tradition and innovation, offering shoes that tell a story of craftsmanship, attention to detail and respect for the environment.
